Some characteristics is that they have reverse chronological order for the posts, they can either be personal feelings and ideas, or news articles. Also a very popular characteristic of blogs is that you can post hyperlinks to outside sources so that our followers can learn more about you.

Journalistic blogs and political blogs are being used as studying tools for research in humanities and social sciences. They are also used as a way of making your personal thoughts online, like a diary and another form of entertainment. Blogs are a way of getting to know someone through technology and hearing about new events in their life.

Blogs are a distinctive type of writing because they are usually a conversation, or someone's personal feelings they are expressing. Also, blogs are usually more private, like an email, and more visually appealing. Blog posts depend on the person writing them, therefore every post on every blog is a little different, like a fingerprint.
4. How might blogging be an effective extension of learning in the classroom?
Blogging might be a helpful way of extending learning in the classroom because it could help dig deeper into the material that we just do not have time to fully cover in class. Also, with technology becoming a huge part of the modern world, it would be easier to simply open someone's blog to find out assignments, or a little more about your professor.
